Applewood Estates hosts Monmouth Symphony Orchestra rehearsals

News Release
6/10/2009

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP—The Performing Arts Center at Applewood Estates will serve as the new home for Monmouth Symphony Orchestra rehearsals beginning this fall. While arts organizations continue to feel the pinch of a struggling economy and diminished public funding, Applewood Estates, CentraState’s continuing care retirement community, is committed to doing its part to support regional arts organizations.

"Our new rehearsal home at Applewood provides our musicians with a large, high-quality space and terrific acoustics," says John Preusse, president, Monmouth Symphony Orchestra. "During these challenging times for everyone in the arts, their donation of rehearsal space is particularly important to our success."

Applewood residents, several of whom are practicing musicians, will be invited to attend all MSO dress rehearsals and pre-concert talks hosted by Thomas Avakian, the orchestra’s program notes author. Residents may also purchase discounted performance tickets.

Performing in the region since 1948, the MSO is comprised of 75 professional and highly skilled amateur musicians from central New Jersey. Performances are held at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank. Annually, the MSO also hosts the state-wide Young Artist Concerto Competition attracting the most talented student musicians in New Jersey.

Applewood Estates is a non-profit, continuing care retirement community, offering apartments and cottages for active, independent seniors, and assisted living services and skilled nursing care if ever needed. It is part of CentraState Healthcare System and a member of the Robert Wood Johnson Health Network.
