FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP―In recognition of the growing number of resident musicians, Applewood Estates, CentraState Healthcare System’s active, continuing care retirement community, opened a new resident music suite to be used for instrumental and vocal practice, private music lessons, music theory and sight-reading instruction. The Applewood Chorus and Orchestra will also hold small group rehearsals in the space. The 1,000 square foot music suite includes a Knabe piano, Baldwin theater organ, and choral, orchestral and piano music files. A keyboard classroom will also be added.
"Our new music suite offers residents a location to enjoy playing and practicing music without the worry of disturbing their neighbors," Marjorie Stine, choral conductor, Applewood Chorus, says. "It is a wonderful opportunity to improve skills or learn to play music for the first time."
The addition of the music suite follows a $38-million community expansion project in 2007 which included a grand foyer and promenade, state-of- the-art audio visual performing arts center, resort-style indoor pool and spa, 50 additional apartments plus freestanding cottage homes with private garages.
Applewood Estates is a non-profit, continuing care retirement community offering apartments and cottages for active, independent seniors and assisted living services and skilled nursing care, if ever needed. It is part of the CentraState Healthcare System which is a member of the Robert Wood Johnson Health Network.
